Peck Brothers Limited - Uxbridge Shell Service Station
The above photo shows Tony Peck and his daughter Katy on the day of his retirement after 40 years of fuelling and service Uxbridge residents vehicles.
In 1976 Tony Peck and Peck Brothers Limited took over the service station at the corner or Brock and Spruce Streets. Here Tony ran his business until his retirement on February 28 2017. This Shell station was one of the last in the region to offer full service to its customers. This would have been the last gas stations that I fuelled up at offering full service, the friendly staff even offering to check the oil and clean the windows. I also remember as a kid bringing our bikes down to the station to fill our tires up for free at the pump beside the service centre doors.
The above photo shows the service station around the 1950's when it was the C.S. Brandon's Shell Station.
In June of 2017 the building was demolished, the fuel tanks removed and the site cleaned up from years of contamination.
