The above two photos show the Oatmeal Kiln as is is seen today (2021). The kiln was used to power the Oatmeal Mill that was built by Isaac J. Gould on the north shore of Elgin Pond (then known as Park Pond). The mill was built in 1887 on the former site or Joseph Gould's woollen and saw mill which was destroyed by fire 1886. The mill was briefly operated as a woollen and saw mill before it was converted to grind oats. In the mid 1950s the mill was condemned and collapsed in 1957.
