We Look Back Wednesday's | Uxbridge's History | Brock Street East (South Side)

Brock Street East (South Side)

The photo above shows the stores along the south side of Brock Street, west of Bascom Street in 1970.  Starting from the left we see Canadian Tire, Davie Rexall Drug Store and the new Moore's Pro Hardware Store (after being destroyed by fire - see photo below).  The vacant building in the middle was the former home of Uxbridge Cleaners and Dyers.  On the right is Len's Convenience Store and Dyson's Meat Market.

In March 1969 a fire destroyed The Moore's Hardware store.  The photo below shows the fire department tackling the fire and thanks to their efforts they managed to save the surrounding buildings.

Seen from the same angle, the photo below shows the same block of stores in Summer of 2022.

From the left is Getaway Travel, The Foggery Vape Shoppe, The Lemonade Stand, Cycle Solutions, Main Street Realty, Mondo Hair Salon, Royal Lepage Frank Real Estate and Col. McGradys Pub & Grill.  The building in the middle was taken down to install the new culvert running under Brock Street.
